Camp out at Jenny Jump State Park, Hope, NJ
Saturday - Sunday
June 21, 22, 2014
12:00 PM Saturday - 10:00 AM Sunday
Jenny Jump State Forest is located in Warren County along the stunning rolling terrain of Jenny Jump Mountain Range. Panoramic vistas of the Highlands and the Kittatinny Mountains and Valley to the west, and scenic views of the Great Meadows in the east dramatically greet the visitor who climbs the narrow path leading to the top of Jenny Jump Mountain. Rocky outcroppings and boulders line the trail - evidence that great glaciers once covered what is now known as Jenny Jump State Forest. United Astronomy Clubs of New Jersey, Inc. (UACNJ) was formed in 1988 as a loosely associated networking group for New Jersey area amateur astronomy clubs. UACNJ itself is not a club, but a consortium of a dozen and a half clubs united to support, coordinate, and communicate ideas among over 1400 individuals who make astronomy their hobby, in and around the state.
We will attend a program 8:00 PM on Saturday Night.
We will provide afternoon snack, dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday, and all the gear that goes into the meals. You provide your own tenting equipment (easily rented at local camping gear stores). We will help new campers setting up tents and will lead a hike on one of the many beautiful trails that wind throughout the park.
At the end of September we will send a group email with equipment list, equipment rental locations, driving directions, and any other important information you will need. A rain date will be planned for the spring only if consistent rain is predicted for the weekend. Hope to see you there: Jenny Jump State Park is a perfect place to begin your camping experiences, and it’s only an hour away.
