Trails & Grounds

Trails & GroundsThe Arboretum trails pass kettle moraines, hilly slopes and a natural amphitheater created by glaciers. Our grounds host approximately 100 species of New Jersey native wildflowers and are home to over 40 varieties of trees, many species of birds, an array of ferns, a 100 year old tulip tree and an 80 foot umbrella magnolia.

Visit the Stone House to view many animal exhibits, including mounted specimens of birds and mammals, animal quiz games, and a small collection of live animals.

The Arboretum is an official monarch butterfly tagging site, as well as an official milkweed/butterfly habitat observation site. In addition, the Arboretum has the honor of housing many published articles and papers of Dr. Lincoln Brower, monarch expert. These articles and papers, as well as the rest of the Arboretum’s naturalist library, may be viewed during Stone House’s open hours.
